Remember middle school days when certain series were hyped as heck? And you found yourself reading those books just to jump on the trendy train.
Yeah. That’s what all these book series are from. They are books that are bound to bring back childhood nostalgia. These are some of my favorite childhood book series and ones you should definitely consider reading.
1) Harry Potter by J.K Rowling
Would it have even been possible for me to write a post on epic book series without including this beauty? The answer is no.
This book brings every childhood feeling and then some. I managed to buy the entire book series as well as all the cooresponding movies. And let me just tell you I love every second of it.
Harry Potter is one of those either you love it or you think it’s just okay book series. I know plenty of people who don’t consider this series to be worth the hype. I, however, believe it’s just as amazing as many think it is.
The series revolves around a wizard named Harry Potter and his nemesis Lord Voldemort. One of the main reasons I personally cherish this series is because of the wizarding world and characters.
My favorite character out of the entire series is probably Hagrid or Luna Lovegood. Luna gives me hippie vibes that make me feel like she’s a lovely person inside and out no matter what.
Who is your favorite Harry Potter character?
2) Percy Jackson & The Olympians by Rick Riordan
Now this was a massive childhood favorite series. Do you remember this book series?
The Percy Jackson series is to this day my favorite greek mythology and action/adventure series of all time. I remember reading this when I was in middle school and fell completely in awe with Percy, Grover and Annabeth. Truth be told I had a bit of a crush on Percy Jackson in the novels and it grew much bigger when I saw who was playing him in the books.
If you never read this series and liked the portion of history class where we learned about greek mythology, you will love this book series. The entire book revolves around a boy named Percy Jackson who’s mother is human and father is…get this… POSEIDON. HIS FATHER IS THE GOD OF SEA.
I absolutely loved the idea that this series revolves around the children of greek gods and goddesses. Oh and get this, Annabeth’s mom? SHE’S FREAKIN’ ARTEMIS. Goddess of the hunt.
This series is action packed and adventurous from the start. If you’re looking for a book to read (or reread..like I did a dozen times) this is an amazing series to check out!
3) The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree?…
This book series was the only series talked about for about a year when I was in middle school. Although I didn’t enjoy this book as much as Harry Potter or Percy Jackson & The Olympians, I did feel it was necessary to include on this list.
Why? Because let’s be honest it was an epic series. Yes, it may have gotten more hype than it deserved, but the plot was one of the most interesting thing I had ever read at that time.
The idea of future North America being split into districts and each district choosing 2 people to compete in a nationally televised event was both psychotic and really fascinating. I blew through the first book pretty quickly and moved on to the second and third.
If you haven’t read this trilogy yet, you definitely should check it out.
4) The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S Lewis
Okay, here’s the thing. I didn’t read this book series…I had it read to me. When I was in elementary school this was the book series all the English teachers were reading to their students.
A lion? A witch? And a wardrobe – first of all, I had no idea what a wardrobe was when I was 10 and only learned that word from this book. I had no idea what those three things had in common and also didn’t realize how fantastic this book series would be.
I loved it so much that when the first book was finished and my teacher chose to move onto a different book, I asked my parents to buy and read the other books in the series. Truth be told, I felt the first 3 were the best.
This is similar to the Harry Potter series in that it completely transports you to a new world. This is why I love series like these because of how the author builds up the facade of the world the character is in. For weeks I remember thinking is there another world inside my closet all because of this series.
We’ve come to the end once again. It’s okay because I promise I’ll be posting more bookish and bullet journal content very soon.
I hope you enjoyed this post and am honestly curious what your favorite book series is? I’m always looking for new books to read!
